Hello All Not too much to report. The wind stayed up most of the day so not too many flights today. The Arizona boys did an M flight that went pretty well, and then they did an Motor Demo from Aerotech of their new Warp-9 propellant. I believe the motor was an J size motor, I did know that it was the first flight for that motor. Unfortunately it Cato right off the pad and blew the whole aft part of the rocket off. So Gary from Aerotech looked a little disappointed. Unfortunately the winds keep up all day so we didn't do much more flying. In the late afternoon I went up to the mine site and did some 4 wheeling to the upper entrance. They say that this mountain has over 35 miles of tunnels drilled though it. I can believe it since there are mine shafts all over the \place. I tossed an rock into one of them and you could here it bounce down between the wall for quite a while. Its also amazing the number of people that camp up at Delamar town site. First at 8,000+ feet it has to have some very cold nights. Second there is no water anywhere around the mines. And third if you thought the lakebed was remote this is twice as far remote as the lakebed. That night they had one more fly a night flight of an EX Red M size motor. It was very cold at this point so I was hiding in the tent in the sleeping bad. But I had to look out for that flight. The red motors are really bright and colorful at night. It was a prefect boost and they had recovery but had to use the tracking system to find the rocket at night. I believe there lights on the rocket quit working after the boost. BACK to day 4 for one important thing. I cant believe I forgot this. As anyone that has built an rocket motor knows that the only way to get rid of the scrapes is to burn them off. So what do you do if your the largest manufacture like Aerotech. You still burn them off! So one of the guys showed up with 1400 pounds of propellant scraps. They splits them in two and had an 400 pound and 1000 pond piles. They first lit off the 400 pound pile and it lit up the whole place, unfortunately they did it too close to the launch system and melted they battery. Its funny looking at a car battery that has been melted in less than 5 seconds. Also battery acid on a alkaline lakebed bubbles pretty big too. For the 1000 pound pile they moved it even farther way. But even with the pile at the away cell it felt like you could get a sunburn from the flight line. We learn later from someone that was driving up from the Vegas and was stilled on the highway they could see it from over 15 miles away. It was reflecting off the clouds. 73...Christine
